HEALTH TECH
Designing Health Technology To Support Therapy Adherence
Understanding how digital experiences can help patients stay engaged, build confidence and follow through with treatment over time.
THE CHALLENGE
A health technology company was developing a digital tracking experience intended to support patients throughout therapy. The team needed to understand what would make the experience genuinely useful in sustaining adherence — and where friction, complexity or lack of relevance could cause patients to disengage.
HOW WE HELPED
Qualitative research explored how patients interpreted the experience, which information felt meaningful, what reinforced progress and confidence, and what could motivate continued use over time. Rather than evaluating individual features in isolation, we examined how usability, feedback, personalization and perceived value worked together to support ongoing therapy engagement.
THE IMPACT
The work clarified how the digital experience could move beyond tracking to play a more meaningful role in supporting therapy adherence.
Defined the experience drivers most likely to support sustained engagement and adherence.
Identified critical UX gaps and friction points that could undermine continued use before significant engineering investment.
Prioritized the experience around making therapy progress more understandable, actionable and personally relevant.
INNOVATION DEVELOPMENT / BRAND EXPERIENCE
Humanizing Men’s Shaving Segmentation to Unlock Growth
Looking beyond product behaviors to uncover the deeper motivations shaping men’s grooming choices.
THE CHALLENGE
Against a backdrop of category stagnation, a leading men’s shaving brand wanted to strengthen its consumer segmentation. Existing segments defined some men too narrowly and negatively around “irritation avoidance” while grouping together others whose “exploration” motivations were very different.
HOW WE HELPED
Longitudinal online research and in-home ethnographies explored men’s values, aspirations, grooming routines, shopping decisions and shaving behaviors. Looking beyond the disposable-versus-refillable choice revealed how grooming connects to identity, confidence, control and self-care.
THE IMPACT
The work created a more nuanced and multidimensional foundation for future segmentation.
Built a richer segmentation framework spanning five behavioral territories and 14 underlying dimensions.
Sharpened razor-format strategy by showing that disposable and refillable systems deliver different consumer jobs—not simply different quality levels.
Opened new innovation spaces across skin protection, glide, hygiene, storage, face/body specialization and system simplicity.
INNOVATION DEVELOPMENT
Fueling Innovation Through Cultural Insight
Using cultural intelligence and semiotics to turn a market setback into a stronger platform for brand positioning and market re-entry.
THE CHALLENGE
After an earlier launch fell short, a leading food company was preparing to re-enter the super-premium segment of a highly competitive category with a completely new brand. The team needed fresh positioning routes that could elevate an everyday product, differentiate the proposition and credibly support a premium price.
HOW WE HELPED
Working alongside parallel consumer research, we conducted a semiotic analysis of the premium and super-premium landscape. The research decoded the imagery, language and cultural themes brands use to elevate everyday experiences and communicate greater value.
We translated these cultural patterns into practical inspiration for executive ideation sessions, helping leadership generate and align around more compelling brand concepts and positioning territories.
THE IMPACT
The work gave leadership a culturally informed framework for re-entering the segment. It replaced an unsuccessful launch strategy with clearer positioning opportunities and concrete inputs for innovation development.
Established a cultural blueprint for market re-entry, grounded in the codes consumers use to recognize premium value.
Accelerated executive ideation by translating semiotic patterns into actionable positioning themes and concept territories.
Defined differentiated positioning routes capable of supporting a credible super-premium price point.
BRAND EXPERIENCE
Evolving a Visual Identity to Strengthen Brand Equity
Using consumer insight to build on the cues shoppers recognized and create a more modern, premium brand expression.
THE CHALLENGE
The Greek Gods yogurt brand needed to refresh its marketing and visual identity. The research focused on understanding which packaging equities were important to preserve while providing clear direction for the agency responsible for the redesign.
HOW WE HELPED
One-on-one consumer discussions evaluated the existing visual identity and organized packaging elements into four actionable categories:
Core — elements to carry forward
Rethink — elements that could work harder
Detractors — elements to leave behind
Additions — opportunities to strengthen the design
THE IMPACT
Research revealed that forced Greek-themed cues, visual clutter and excessive white space were undermining perceptions of quality, while prominent flavor banners were critical to shelf recognition.
Protected recognizable equities to reduce risk during the transition.
Elevated the brand experience by identifying opportunities for a cleaner, more premium identity.
Strengthened the agency brief with clear consumer guidance on what should stay, change or disappear.
